Tom Ciccarone

Coach Ciccarone brings over 35 years of experience to CFC, having successfully prepared students to assume the dominant role of champion at the divisional, sectional and national levels. He is the Treasurer of the Connecticut Division and the North Atlantic Section of the USFA and a Moniteur of the USFCA (United States Fencing Coach Association).

He has studied under Fencing Master Neil Lazar, Ralph Goldstein, Orest Stetsiv, Michael Shimchovich, Al Kwartler, Darnell Every, Harvey Kerner and David Comas and is a nationally rated referee and competitor in all weapons. Coach Ciccarone is the former Head Coach of the Sacred Heart University. 


Orest Stetsiv

Mr. Stetsiv is the former Junior Olympic Soviet Sabre coach, master coach of Ukraine and brings over 40 years of fencing and teaching experience to CFC. He is a master coach in all weapons as well as a nationally rated referee.


Alex Fotiyev

Alex Fotiyev is the 1995 National Ukrainian Champion in Sabre. He teaches Sabre and Foil. He brings over 20 years experience to the CFC program.

Chris Aher

Chris Aher is an Associate Instructor in Epee and holds a seat on the CFC Board of directors. He has 25 years experience as fencer and 8 years as trainer.

Erik Hansen

Erik Hansen is the former Head Coach of Sacred Heart University's Men's and Women's Fencing team. He is a competitive trainer in all weapons with an accent on sabre. He specializes in youth lessons. He brings over 12 years of experience to our program.

Bruce Gillman

Bruce Gillman is the Head Coach of Vasser College and the owner of the Fencing Center of Long Island. Bruce is a nationally rated referee and FOC and brings 25 years of experiences to the CFC program.

Tom Vrabel

Tom is an epee, foil and sabre coach with over 30 years experience. He specializes in competitive training. He is also Coach of Sacred Heart University.

Aleksandr Ulanovskiy

Alex Ulanouskiy is an F.I.E. and USFA,  "A"rated fencer in epee and brings over 30 years experience to Candlewood. He spent 7 years in Italy and 13 years in the Ukraine teaching epee and foil.
